At CCRI, I worked on a graphic design project for a restaurant called The Red Fez. The goal was to redesign a menu for a real restaurant that didn’t have one, and to fit all of the information onto an 8.5x11 sheet of paper.
The name of the restaurant and its unique Middle-Eastern food inspired my color scheme and logo. It was described as a cozy eatery with dark lighting before it closed. I thought a warm, deeper tone would work best with the menu’s design.
The Red Fez was actually once a beloved local restaurant of Rhode Island that ran for 18 years but closed back in 2019. I would say that if it was still running this designed menu and logo would definitely have fit with the sort of style that they had for their restaurant. It seemed that when it was in operation it did not have much of a branding style and I would have loved to have been able to see this type of design in use at their restaurant.
Personally I never went there myself but I managed to get my inspiration from the images that I found of their restaurant, which had a sort of dark vintage ambiance and a very eclectic style.
